I asked how RSA calculated the It properties (I attach the answer). We observed that in the calculations of the Ix properties we had some differences in relation to other programs. Baraka 2/ Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Institut de la construction metallique, Conception des structures metalliques - Partie C: Dimensionement des halles et batiments Deuxieme edition, 3e tirage corrige (decembre 1987)īut I dan't undertand why It has changed and not the coordinates of the shear point, Iw (warping),ģ years ago we create some profiles in RSA (thin walled sections), "C", "U", "W".(and more, all single profiles open sections) with the Section Definition module of RSA (I think it was in the 2012 version). We draw all the profiles and create a catalogue with all the properties: Sx, Ix, Iy, Iz.we checked the properties done with RSA with other programs in order to see if they were correct. This is the answer I received in 03/2012 about how is calcuated:įor thin-walled sections it is calculated according to the following references to articles in French based on Saint-Venant, Vlasov and Benscoter theory/theories : 1/ CTICM, Revue Construction Metallique, Caracteristiques torsionelles des profils a parois minces, par S. Is there any bug?Or an updated correcting the calculation? Have I got to modify all the properties of all the sections I defined? The It properties are smaller than before. I don't find if there was a modifications in the latests versions of RSA. I realised that there was a modification in how RSA calculates the torsional moment of inertia (It, or Ix in RSA).I defined 3 years ago some sections (complex for thin walled sections) and obtained the It properties (Iy, Iz, Iw.) that we use for internal calculations but when I import the section in "section definition" and calculate again the properties, the propertines continue being the same except the Ix.
